Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana: More Crops to Get Insurance Cover Soon

Agriculture Minister P. Prasad stated on Friday that a decision will be made soon to cover more agricultural crops under insurance. 27 crops are now included in the coverage.

Mr. Prasad stated that the government was making efforts to provide insurance coverage to all farmers under the State Crop Insurance Scheme, the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, and the Weather-Based Crop Insurance Scheme after kicking off the State-level Crop Insurance Day celebrations.

Farmers who frequently find themselves at the whim of natural disasters and climate change events can find comfort in insurance coverage. According to Mr. Prasad, the government approved 30 crore rupees for farmers to use in insurance schemes last month.

For the benefit of future generations, protecting agriculture and farmers is crucial. He asserted that "Krishipath" is more significant than Agnipath in this regard.

According to Mr. Prasad, the Njangalum Krishiyilekku scheme, which encourages households to start farming, has had a positive response throughout the State.

A healthy society must be able to produce vegetables without the use of pesticides, he continued.

As part of the celebrations for Crop Insurance Day, the Minister accepted a request for insurance coverage from farmer Gopinathan Nair, kicking off a week-long campaign.
