Shekhawat Appreciates Scientists, Students of ANGRAU for Playing Significant Role in Development of Agriculture Sector

Gajendra Singh Shekhawat told media on Wednesday that it is an honour that Acharya NG Ranga Agriculture University (ANGRAU) holds 11th place among 74 agriculture universities in India.

Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Union Minister for Water Resources said that new crop varieties are being developed using modern technology as part of efforts to ensure the country's food security and provide good nutrition to the public.

The session took place at Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University and also recorded the presence of AP agriculture minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy and water resources minister Ambati Rambabu, in Tirupati.

While addressing the students and faculty of the University, Shekhawat talked about the research and development that took place in the sector and highlighted the achievements of the agriculture industry of the nation. He also talked about how overjoyed he was to receive an honorary doctorate from Acharya NG Ranga Agriculture University(ANGRAU) and also appreciated the efforts of the students and scientists of the university.

He stated that due to the exemplary efforts of scientists, farmers, and farm workers, the country has achieved self-sufficiency in foodgrain production and is exporting these to global markets.

Kakani Govardhan Reddy, the state agriculture minister, stated that Acharya NG Ranga Agriculture University has been playing a significant role in the development of the agriculture sector. Rice varieties developed by ANGRAU such as BPT 5204 (Samba Masuri), MTU 7029 (Swarna), and MTU 1001 (Vijetha) became very popular, he said.

In reference to the use of drones for spraying operations, Kakani stated that AP is implementing revolutionary changes in crop management and prioritizing the agriculture sector. With the cooperation of the agriculture university, 10,778 Rythu Bharosa centres were established to provide technical assistance to farmers.

Tirupati MP Gurumoorthy, Rajampet MP Mithun Reddy, Chittoor MP Reddappa, Ranga varsity vice-chancellor Dr. Vishnuvardhan Reddy, and Sri Venkateswara veterinary university VC Padmanabha Reddy also graced the event with there presence.

Acharya NG Ranga Agricultural University (ANGRAU) is one of the country's premier agricultural and home sciences educational institutions. It provides undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in a variety of fields and is helping the nation and students to achieve new heights of success in the field.
