Agricultural land purchase scheme is out for application

The Tamilnadu Adi Dravidar Housing Development Corporation (Tahdco) has opened applications for the land purchase scheme for scheduled caste and tribal women.

They can receive a subsidy of up to 2.25 lakh for purchasing agricultural land under the scheme. Land transactions, on the other hand, should not take place within the scheduled caste and tribal communities. Up to 2.5 acres of irrigated land or 5 acres of rainfed land could be purchased by an individual.

The subsidy would be 30 percent of the land cost or 2.25 lakh, whichever is lesser, according to a Tahdco official. The remaining amount for the land purchase would be obtained through a bank loan. The candidate must be between the ages of eighteen and have a yearly income of less than Rs. 2 lakh.

Subsidies would be available for constructing an open well, sinking a borehole, installing a pump set, and constructing pump set rooms on the plot. The subsidy is limited to 30% of the cost of the item or Rs. 2.25 lakh, whichever is less.

Similarly, under the self-employment scheme, scheduled caste and tribal youths could get a subsidy to operate a medical laboratory, physiotherapy center, optical store, pharmacy, or clinic. Applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 45 and have an annual income of less than Rs. 3 lakh.

They should also have the necessary academic qualifications. While the subsidy is limited to 30% of the cost or 2.25 lakh, whichever is less, the remaining funds would be granted through a bank loan.
