How to Grow Wheatgrass (Jware) at Home?

As wheatgrass is a good source of vitamins A, C, and E as well as calcium, iron, magnesium, and amino acids, the majority of health-conscious people choose to drink wheatgrass juice.

What is needed to grow wheatgrass at home?

  • A bowl or jar for sprouting

  • A cup of wheat sprouting seeds

  • A tray with drainage holes

  • Compost or fertilizer-enriched soil

  • Plastic lid with air holes

How to sprout wheatgrass seeds?

  • Remove any stones or debris from a half cup of seeds before sprouting wheatgrass.

  • Put these seeds in a bowl or jar for sprouting.

  • After adding water, cover the jar with a plastic lid. For at least six hours or overnight, soak these seeds.

  • After that, completely drain the seeds of water. At least twice and three times daily, repeat the rinsing and draining processes.

  • The seeds will begin to sprout in two to three days. The tails should now start to appear.

How to grow wheatgrass at home?

  • Fill the growing tray with a layer of soil that is half an inch or larger.

  • To wet the soil, mist it with some water, but don't overdo it.

  • Sprinkling sprouting seeds over the soil is a good idea.

  • After that, cover the seeds with some loose dirt.

  • Place the tray in a dry area with some light from the side.

  • A plastic lid with air holes is used to cover the tray. A minimum of one to two inches of grass should be able to grow on the lid.

  • Spray the seeds with water each day until they take root and grass starts to appear.

  • Remove the cover once the grass is about 1 to 2 inches long.

  • Keep watering the grass every day.
