Here we are going to tell you that how you can do scientific cultivation of green leafy vegetables.

Land

Green Leafy vegetables can be cultivated on all types of land. Although Balui and Domat are considered to be the best for this, their cultivation is good in black and smooth soil.

Manures and Fertilizers

During ploughing of the field, rotten manure of 100 quintal dung should be applied per hectare. Use 25 kg nitrogen and 40 kg potash per kg for 100 hectares.

Method of Sowing

Spinach- The distance from the queue to the line should be 20 cm and the distance from plant to plant should be 3 to 4 cm.

Methi- The distance from the queue to queue should be 20 to 25 cm and the distance from plant to plant should be 3 to 4 cm.

Chhoti Chaulai- The distance from the queue to queue should be 20 to 25 cm and the distance from plant to plant should be 4 to 5 cm.

Badi Chaulai- The distance from the queue to queue should be 30 to 35 cm and the distance from plant to plant should be 4 to 5 cm.

Method of Sowing

Make the soil crumbly and make beds and add fertilizer to it. Soil should have enough moisture. Then, start sowing after that.

Weed Control

For good yield, remove weeds from the beds periodically. With this, the growth of the plant is also good. At the same time, the outbreak of insects is also less.

Irrigation

In green leafy vegetables, irrigation should be done as per requirement. During this time, it should be kept in mind that seeds should not be sown in dry soil and irrigated immediately after sowing. This prevents germination of seeds properly.

Harvesting

First harvesting of vegetables should be done after 25 to 30 days. After that, harvesting continued for 15 to 20 days.

Yield

Spinach- 100 to 150 quintals per hectare

Methi-  Yield of 80 to 100 quintals per hectare.

Chaulai- 70 to 100 quintals per hectare

Major Diseases

Moyla or Leaf Borer- This insect causes damage to leaves by sucking the juice of the leaves. Use the recommended insecticide for this.

Throat disease- This disease occurs while the plant is growing. The plant starts dying even before it grows.

Leaf spot- Vegetables are not bought in the market due to brown spots on them due to its outbreak.
