Dairy in India is one of the major employment generating industries and thus the government is taking continuous steps to develop it. In order to make the sector more organized, increase profits and reduce costs for the industry associated with it, the government has decided to connect startups with the sector and has organized a special contest.

Dairy Contest

Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying has launched the second edition of 'Animal Husbandry Startup Grand Challenge'. According to an official statement, its objective is to find innovative ideas to solve 6 main problems related to animal husbandry and the dairy sector.

The first edition of this challenge was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in September 2019.

With the help of this campaign, the government wants to encourage young businessmen working on modern technologies to come to the sector, so those good technologies are developed in the country itself, which will not only reduce the cost of businesses but help in expansion. Along with this, India's dependence on foreign countries for many expensive technologies will also end.

What Are These Challenges?

The department has given challenges such as increasing the number of animals, using modern technology for identification, creating cold storage, etc. to ensure milk supply and improving quality.

Along with the challenges, it has also clarified what they expect from the businessmen in solving these problems.

If you are also associated with the dairy industry and are working on some ideas, then you can apply by visiting http://www.startupindia.gov.in.

What will be the Reward?

  • According to the ministry, 6 challenges have been kept in this competition.

  • In each challenge, one will get a cash prize of Rs 10 lakh and the runner-up will get a cash prize of Rs 7 lakh.

  • With this, they will get an opportunity to present their ideas in front of both the government and the investors.

  • The ministry will also appoint experts to take the idea forward.

  • At the same time, these innovators will also help in getting funds.
