Patanjali Working on the Virus That Causes Lumpy Skin Disease: Baba Ramdev
Baba Ramdev claims that Patanjali is working to provide solutions for Lumpy Skin Disease. He said the government should also investigate how the disease entered the country and spread across many states.
On Friday, Baba Ramdev stated that the Patanjali Group is attempting to develop a cure for Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD), which has caused the deaths of about 1 lakh cows.
Ramdev recommended that the government spread knowledge about the disease, which he said may have "come from Pakistan."
He asserted that the government should look into how the disease entered the nation and spread to so many places.
Ramdev informed reporters, "We are working on the virus that causes lumpy skin disease."
He claimed that this disease has caused almost one lakh cows to pass away.
Ramdev alleged that several of the cows at his Haridwar shelter home were also infected by the disease, yet not a single cow died.
"We treated cows with ayurvedic medicines like Giloy. Cows having better immunity were not infected with this disease," he said.
More than a dozen states, including Gujarat, Rajasthan, Punjab, and Haryana, have experienced an increase in LSD cases.
According to statistics maintained by the Department of Animal Husbandry, the disease has infected 16.42 lakh cattle in 197 districts and has killed 75,000 cattle between July and September 11, 2022.
The infectious viral disease LSD affects cattle and can produce nodules on the skin, fever, and even death. By means of contaminated food and water, as well as by direct contact with cattle, mosquitoes, flies, lice, and wasps, the disease is disseminated.
The Center claims that the goat pox vaccine, which is being given to cattle to control the LSD, is 100% effective. A new LSD vaccination called Lumpi-ProVacInd was developed by two ICAR-affiliated institutes, although it hasn't yet been made available on the market.
According to the 19th Livestock Census, India, the top milk producer in the world, has 192.5 million cattle.
