Dept of Animal Husbandry and Dairying to Launch One-Health Pilot in Bengaluru Tomorrow

One-Health Framework undertaking project is being implemented in the states of Karnataka and Uttarakhand by the DAHD in collaboration with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) and The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) as an implementation partner.

Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying (DAHD), Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India, has launched an initiative to bring stakeholders from animal, human, and environmental health together on a single platform to address challenges using a One-Health approach.

The One-Health Framework undertaking project is being implemented in the states of Karnataka and Uttarakhand by the DAHD in collaboration with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) and The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) as an implementation partner.

Tomorrow, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying (DAHD) will launch the Karnataka One Health Pilot in Bengaluru.

Atul Chaturvedi, Secretary, Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, would launch this pilot project in Karnataka in the presence of other key dignitaries and stakeholders from the Centre and state levels from the livestock, human, wildlife, and environment sectors.

Based on the findings of this initiative, the DAHD would create a national One Health roadmap, which would aid in the prevention of future zoonotic disease outbreaks by providing better response mechanisms and management while incorporating global best practices.

During the event, a capacity-building plan for Karnataka and a One Health brochure (Kannada) will be unveiled. The primary goal of the Unit is to develop a national One Health roadmap based on the lessons learned during the pilot project's implementation.

The implementation of the One Health Support Unit would be led by an inter-ministerial One Health committee chaired by the Government of India's Principal Scientific Adviser.
