If you're looking for a business opportunity in Kerala, the best choice is to start a poultry business, as there is a 300-crore-egg shortage every year. This also comes from the southern states.

According to a top official of the state-owned Kerala State Poultry Development Corporation (Kepco), the state's yearly egg requirement is 565 crore, with domestic production accounting for just 260 crore.

According to Sukumaran Nair, Kepco's chief marketing officer, the company's attempts to enhance output have resulted in a 75-crore increase in the last five years.

He went on to say that Kepco, in an effort to boost egg output even further, has begun distributing chicks from the B.V.380 breed, which can lay 300 eggs per year.

This breed has also been discovered to be resistant to health problems, and once it has finished producing eggs, each bird weighs more than 2 kg, which is also additional money.

Kepco has teamed up with the Local Self Government to provide cages and chicks to interested farmers, with the goal of closing the gap between egg consumption and imports from neighbouring states.

Poultry farming is one of the world's fastest-growing industries today. Raising turkeys, ducks, geese, and chickens for meat or eggs is known as poultry farming. Over 50 billion chickens are farmed for food each year, including meat and eggs.

Breed type and manageability are completely reliant on the growth and economics of all poultry farms. You can employ a variety of high-yield layers and broilers. Hatcheries produce high-quality layers and broiler chicks. It is vital to procure newborn chicks in the poultry industry.

These one-day-old chicks are sulky and unprotected. Brooding is the process of paying attention to and caring for eggs in the first several weeks (40-60 days) after they hatch.
