The Organic Wine

Organic wine is produced under tight guidelines that include land management, preservation, storage, and the restriction of chemical use.

Organic wine is prepared from grapes and does not include any fertilizer, pesticides, herbicides, or other chemicals. Since the grapes are grown organically, they do not contain sulfites. When ingested in excess, sulfites can cause headaches and hangovers.

Organic wine production and Sustainability

Making organic wine has been a notion since the beginning of organic farming. While organic agriculture does not automatically imply sustainability, it may be claimed that organic agriculture increased the popularity of sustainable agriculture. While organic agriculture is defined by crop rotation to maintain soil nutrients, the use of pesticides, the planting of organic seeds, and the growth of food free of genetic engineering.

According to the descriptions, organic agriculture acts as a stepping stone to sustainable agriculture. Sustainable farming is more focused on the land and processes that improve natural resources such as water, the quality of life for farmers and those who consume the product, the efficient use of resources, and agriculture. Two Organic Wines principles are being pursued. Organic wine in the United States is created from organically cultivated grapes without the use of additives such as sulfites.
