Every year, December 2 is celebrated as National Pollution Control Day. The purpose of celebrating this day is to honor those who lost their lives in the Bhopal Gas catastrophe on December 2 and 3, 1984.

It is important for each and everyone in this earth to realize that environmental pollution has a detrimental impact on our health and life. Because everyone on the planet has the right to breathe clean air and drink clean water, it is important to control pollution.

Objectives of National Pollution Control Day

The major goal is to raise public knowledge of the different businesses that pollute the environment and, obviously, human health through noise, water, air, and other forms of pollution.

In order to create a better or cleaner environment, it is also crucial to educate the public about pollution. What is Bhopal Gas Tragedy?

In the Bhopal Gas catastrophe, which occurred on December 2 and 3, 1984, more than 500,000 people were exposed to the toxic gas MIC (Methyl Isocyanate) after it was discharged from a pesticide facility owned by Union Carbide India Limited in Bhopal, MP. 2259 people died instantly, while the MP government eventually announced that 25,000 people had perished. It was named the worst industrial disaster in recorded history on a global scale.

It is crucial that people learn everything there is to know about pollution in order to lessen it and create a cleaner, pollution-free world. Due to vehicles and other factors, Delhi suffers from a significant pollution problem, which makes it common for residents to contract various diseases.
