Singer of popular songs like “O Sanam,” the son of famous comic actor Mehmood, and the nephew of legendary actress Meena Kumari, he is now a dedicated farmer who runs his own farm.

If you were born in the 90s, Lucky Ali’s name would not be new for you. He sang songs that have a huge fan-following even today. Born in 1958, he went on to become a successful singer, songwriter, and actor. Today, he is running his own technology assisted farm!

Wanting to pursue music along with farming, Ali took over his father’s Mehmood’s farm in Bangalore. He has co-founded an online marketplace for farm based products called Tribe Nation. The company currently operates in Bangalore but Ali plans to expand it to other parts of the country as well.

Ali’s journey has been rich in experience of every kind. At boarding school, he got into smoking marijuana, which prompted his father, Mehmood, to write the script of the film “Dushman Duniya Ka.”

The protagonist is also named Lucky, a young man who falls victim to drug abuse and kills his mother. Lucky did not act in the movie but sang his first song for it.

As an adult, he worked several odd jobs. To begin with, he worked in an oil ring in Pondicherry, and also started a carpet-cleaning business with his friend. He has also acted in movies like “Kaante,” “Yeh Hai Zindagi,” and “Trikaal.”

Ali left Bollywood and soon settled down on his quiet farm in Bangalore. He explained in a video interview that the reason he left Bollywood was because the movies of this generation are having a bad impact on the society. He believes that they propagate the ideas of violence and lack in patience because of excess greed. In his words, “There is a lot of disrespect in Bollywood.”

This iconic singer is now a full-time farmer and he takes this role very seriously. Even his company, Tribe Nation, relies on farmers and delivers groceries and other fresh farm produce from local farmers to customers through an app-based model. His intention is to ensure that the crops produced by farmers do not get wasted and they get better prices for them. His platform also eliminates the need of a middleman and allows farmers to have direct, hassle-free interactions with their customers.
