World Pulses Day is celebrated annually to recognize the importance of pulses as a global food. The celebration increases public awareness of the nutritional and environmental benefits of pulses as part of sustainable food production. 

The date for World Pulses Day 2022 is Thursday, February 10, 2022. In the year 2022, World Pulses Day will be marked for the fourth time on Thursday, February 10th. This Day is used as an opportunity to increase awareness about the power of pulses for global health. 

Pulses have a long history since they have been a major source of human and animal nourishment for over ten thousand years. However, their significance was defined when, as a result of hunger, poverty, and food scarcity, the world's worry grew to reach the new aims to feed a mass population via a nutritious, hygienic, and appropriate diet. 

India's pulses-producing states contribute significantly to the country's total output. Significantly, the country generated about 14.76 million tonnes of pulses. With this achievement, India has established itself as one of the world's leading producers of pulses. 

In this article, we will discuss the top ten states in India that are widely known for their pulse production. These are highly appreciated and in demand due to their contribution to the nation’s agricultural sector. 

Leading Pulses Producing States in India

Rajasthan

Rajasthan is the leading producer of pulses. A large portion of pulses are produced, and the local population consumes a greater proportion of them. As a result, a large output of crops is generated, sufficient for people to eat twice a day. The pulses plantation employs a large number of people. The region's overall output is around 4821.84 tonnes.

Madhya Pradesh

The region's overall output is around 4364.74 tonnes. The state government has taken all necessary steps to maintain its leading position by generating as many pulses as feasible. 

Maharashtra

The state is on the third top position in the list of top states in India based on 10 pulses production. The area is well-known for its agricultural activities. The region's overall output is around 4224.87 tonnes.

Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh ranks fourth in terms of pulse production in India. The overall output reported is around 2621.15 tonnes. The state government has been extremely helpful in providing all of the latest technology and equipment to boost growth. 

Karnataka

Karnataka ranks fifth among India's leading pulse producers. The state’s climatic condition and fertile soil is generous on the pulses.  The overall production of pulses in Karnataka is recorded as 2170.89 tonnes.

Gujarat

Gujarat enjoys standing on the sixth position. Production has risen as the state's machinery and agriculture technology has widely developed. There are more states to discuss among the top ten states in India in terms of pulse production. The overall output reported is around 1759.93 tonnes

Andhra Pradesh

With a solid seventh position, Andhra Pradesh takes the lead. The state is well-known for producing a variety of pulses. The annual production reported is 1185.43 tonnes.

Jharkhand

Jharkhand is ranked eighth, with increasing pulses production and surpluses compared to prior years, contributing significantly to India's pulse production. Jharkhand's climate and soil are two important reasons for its inclusion on this list. The annual production reported is 908.93 tonnes.

Telangana

A large portion of pulses are produced, and the local population consumes a greater proportion of them. As a result, a large output of crops is generated, sufficient for people to eat twice a day. The pulses plantation employs a large number of people. The annual production reported is 664.14 tonnes.

Tamil Nadu

Tamil Nadu is on the tenth yet not the last state known for the production of pulses. The annual production reported is 549.02 tonnes. On this note, we finish with the 10 Largest 10 pulses producing states of India.
