Ministry  of fertiliser has announced to decrease the size of urea bags from 50 kg to 45 kg will be implemented from next year. Urea being  cheap amongst other fertilizers available in market ,farmers use it in a larger amount.Even after restrictions urea is being used above the aforesaid limit which is also harmful for general health of population.Keeping this in mind senior official at fertilizer ministry said on Thursday,”The planning is being done. Companies are ready for this change.

They will print 45 kg bags.It will be implemented from next year. The purpose is to reduce urea consumption and to promote the balanced use of fertilizers. We thought about various measures to reduce the urea consumption. Neem coating of urea was one..Now, we are looking at the 45 kg bag.”the official explained.

Normally, farmers use urea by counting the number of bags for each hectare of land.”When we tell farmers to reduce the number of 50 kg bags, they do not listen. So, we have decided to use the 45 kg urea bag trick to reduce consumption,” he said.

Farmers will buy and use the same number of bags as used earlier. This will reduce the consumption by 10 percent.
