Mandi Updates: Mustard Prices Rise in Indian Wholesale Markets

The wholesale prices of mustard rose in several states such as Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Uttarakhand, and Gujarat.

The beginning of March saw an increase in the month-on-month average of wholesale prices of mustard, according to the data by the Agmarknet portal, run by the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.

The wholesale prices of mustard rose in several states such as Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Uttarakhand, and Gujarat. In Rajasthan, the prices remained largely unchanged at Rs 4,739 per quintal in March from Rs 4,738 in February.

However, the wholesale prices of Mustard decreased to Rs 5,057 per quintal in Uttar Pradesh in March from Rs 5,183 in February, followed by a 9.65% fall to Rs 5,858 per quintal in Maharashtra. In Haryana, the wholesale prices fell marginally by 0.9% to Rs 4,746 per quintal. Similarly, in West Bengal, the prices fell marginally by 0.16% to Rs 5,608.

The month-on-month average wholesale prices increased by Rs 38.22 per quintal to Rs 5,430.4. Mustard is a rabi crop that is sown in October-November and harvested in February-March.
