Integrating medicinal plants and gardens in your homes adds greenery and creates a beautiful and healthy ambiance for you. 

Here's a list of some medicinal plants that you should grow in your kitchen garden that might help save your life one day.  

1. Tulsi (Holy Basil) 

Tulsi, also known as Holy Basil is a plant grown for its aromatic leaves. It is a type of flowering plant of the mint family is a native of the Subcontinent of India and is also widely grown in southeastern regions of Asia. Tulsi is considered sacred and is widely used in Ayurvedic medicine. Growing Tulsi in your home can greatly benefit you. You can consume 2-3 leaves of tulsi regularly and by doing so, you will be providing your body with good amounts of antioxidants and Vitamin C, which can lower your risk of various infections and diseases of the skin, kidney, and liver. 

 2. Gheekumari (Aloe Vera) 

Gheekumari, also known as Aloe vera, is a plant that grows in hot and dry climates. It is a cactus-like plant. Aloe vera is widely known for its healing properties. It is also being largely advertised in skin products nowadays.

Aloe vera is used orally to prevent conditions such as GERD (Gastroesophageal reflux disease) which can lead to heartburn. Consuming 2-3 spoons of aloe vera could provide a great amount of relief in such conditions. However, Aloe vera is mostly used topically as it has wound healing properties and also it can help your skin to stay fresh and hydrated for long hours.  

Giloy (Cordifoolia) 

Giloy is a kind of magical plant, which is going to benefit your family if you grow it in your home. Giloy is being used for centuries for its medicinal properties, it is also had been mentioned in Hindu history books as Amrita which literally translates to the nectar of life. Including Giloy in your diet can help detoxify your body and aids digestion. It also helps in preventing many skin diseases such as eczema and psoriasis.

Giloy also helps in maintaining blood sugar levels and keeps your cholesterol in check. It also helps cure asthma and bronchitis. It also helps in curing other infections like UTIs.
