Let’s acquaint with foods that are required for eyes and some secret tips which can be incorporated in our foods for proper vision.

Orange

Oranges are a good source of vitamin- C. It enhances many body functions, including the formation of collagen, absorption of iron, and the proper functioning of the immune system.

Consuming oranges reduce the risk of forming cataract and also help to fight the inflammatory conditions of the eyes.

Carrots are loaded with beta-carotene, which is converted into vitamin A in the body. Vitamin A is a vital nutrient for the eyes, also plays a crucial role in cell growth. Beta Carotene is the compound that gives vivid yellow or orange color to vegetables like carrots. 

Apricot

The fruit is packed with beta-carotene along with lutein, zeaxanthin, and vitamins C and E, which prevents eyes from damaging. The common summer fruit also benefits against aging eyes. 

Ragi

Ragi is an essential source of polyphenols, which is able to reduce the risk of cataracts. Cataract is caused due to diabetes and a rise in blood sugar levels. Consuming ragi helps to maintain proper eye health and the presence of polyphenols in its seed coat has anti- cataract potentials.

Amla

Amla, also known as Indian gooseberry is an ayurvedic remedy to many diseases. It helps our immune system as well as plays a critical role in eyesight. It is rich in vitamin C; aids to strengthen the eye muscles. The vitamin-rich berry also protects the eyes from cataract.

Besides these, oily fishes are good for non- vegetarians to maintain eye health. Cashews, lentils, leafy green vegetables such as collards and spinaches lower the risk of eye problems. Drinking plenty of water helps eyes not to get dry and inhibit dehydration.
