We all face headache issues at some point in our daily lives, and you feel relief by having medicine. Some face this problem regularly and don’t come out from this for a long time. Are you also facing headache issue regularly or almost every alternate day?

Chronic daily headaches are when you face this problem for 15 days or more in a month. Chronic headaches can affect any age group – adults or children. Having a constant headache can be devitalizing and can interfere with your day-to-day activities.

The word chronic daily headache is rather broad and includes several different types of headaches that can occur daily:

  • Tension headaches feel like a close-fitting band has been placed around your head.

  • Migraines feel like a very intense thumping headache that can occur on either side or both sides of your head.

  • Cluster headaches can occur on and off over weeks or months and can cause severe pain on one side of your head

  • Hemicrania continua can appear on one side of your head and feel similar to a migraine

In our busy lives, headaches often occur because of hypertension/stress at the office or personal life. We recommend you consult a doctor before taking any pill.

Here are five natural methods to come out from headache problems:

Massage therapy

Massages may seem affluent, but they are also incredibly therapeutic. Sometimes, headaches occur from tension in the upper body due to muscle strain from poor posture or a rigorous workout routine. Massage therapy can reduce chronic pain as well as ease muscle tension that causes headaches.

Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is the research of how certain smells can trigger positive and even healing responses in the brain. Some fragrances have been reported to calm and reduce the incidence of headaches. These include peppermint extract, eucalyptus, and lavender oil. They are readily accessible at many local health food stores or online.

Sleep

Sleep is the most common cause that led to chronic headaches. But knowing you need more sleep and you are getting it are two different things.

There are many ways you can improve the amount and quality of your sleep, including the following:

  • Commit to a sleep schedule: Go to bed and wake up at regular times. Even if you go to bed 15 minutes earlier or sleep 15 minutes later, it can be a step in the correct direction.

  • Avoid these foods in the hours before bed: Foods like alcohol, sugar, nicotine, and caffeine can keep you away from sleeping and keep you up at night with trips to the bathroom.

  • Choose a relaxing activity before bed: Turn off the television or computer and treat yourself to a good book or a hot bath. It may sound awkward, but a little relaxation goes a long way.

Hot/Cold Application

For muscle tension headaches, hot and cold compresses can offer relief. For the cold portion, place ice in a plastic bag covered with a thin cloth to keep away from harming your skin. Place the ice pack on your forehead and cheeks, basically wherever the greatest source of pain is. Just be sure to limit cold pack applications to no more than 10 minutes at a time.

For the hot portion: you can purchase a heat pack.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture involves putting fine, sharp needles to specific areas of the body to promote energy flow. It is thought to stimulate the body’s natural pain-relieving compounds, and according to the National Institutes of Health trusted source, has been shown to reduce headache frequency and severity.

Apart from all of the above, we recommend adding healthy foods like fruits and green vegetables to your diet. Water is very important; dehydration is also one reason for headaches, so drink ample amount of water every day. Take good sleep and exercise regularly. In spite of this, if you face a headache problem regularly, you must go and consult a doctor.
