Dengue is a viral infection basically transmitted by the Aedes mosquito. Dengue typically starts with early symptoms such as fever lasting for 3 to 5 days, the appearance of red marks on the body, body, eye pain, headaches, vomiting, and intense back pain.

Amidst the ongoing surge in dengue cases in India, it has become imperative for people to take necessary precautions in safeguarding themselves and their loved ones from this mosquito-borne viral illness.

As the number of cases reaches unprecedented levels, adopting preventive measures becomes critical in containing the spread of dengue. Here are a few crucial guidelines to ensure safety and reduce the risk of contracting dengue.

Few Tips to Stay Safe from Dengue:

1. Use mosquito repellent- Apply an effective mosquito repellent on exposed skin and clothing, especially during the daytime when dengue mosquitoes are most active.

2. Wear protective clothing- Wear long-sleeved shirts, long pants, socks, and closed-toe shoes to minimize exposed skin and reduce the chances of mosquito bites.

3. Use mosquito nets- When sleeping during the day (dengue mosquitoes are primarily active during daylight hours) or in areas with a high mosquito presence, use mosquito nets over your bed.

4. Eliminate breeding sites- Dengue mosquitoes breed in stagnant water. Regularly inspect your surroundings and remove any standing water from flower pots, gutters, containers, and other places where water can accumulate.

5. Keep windows and doors screened- Ensure that windows and doors have proper screens to prevent mosquitoes from entering your home.

6. Use air conditioning- If possible, use air conditioning instead of keeping windows open to cool your living spaces, as mosquitoes are less likely to enter when there is air circulation.

7. Be cautious during outbreaks- Be vigilant about dengue outbreaks in your area and follow local health advisories.

8. Seek early medical attention- If you experience symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, joint and muscle pain, rash, or bleeding, seek medical attention promptly, as early diagnosis and treatment can be crucial for recovery.

9. Prevent mosquito bites while traveling- If you're traveling to an area where dengue is prevalent, take extra precautions by using mosquito repellents, wearing protective clothing, and staying in accommodations with screened windows.

10. Encourage community efforts- Promote awareness about dengue prevention in your community and support local initiatives to control mosquito populations.

Dengue remains a critical health issue in India, with cases reaching an unprecedented level. To combat this disease and prevent mosquito bites, individuals can adopt these straightforward yet highly effective tips. Staying informed about dengue, raising awareness, and collaborating with local health authorities to implement preventive and control measures in affected regions are crucial steps in safeguarding public health. By uniting our efforts, we can strive to reduce the impact of dengue and protect ourselves and our communities from this serious threat.
