High cholesterol is a consequence of poor eating habits. You don't have to be concerned about the risk of chronic diseases if you eat a healthy diet. But even so, since we are often unable to resist the palatability of several food items,

and also because we are not completely aware of the components of the food, we end up making obvious mistakes, putting ourselves at risk of developing health complications.

A high level of cholesterol is one such problem. Elevated cholesterol levels lead to an increase in the risk of heart conditions. 

According to the recent study of the World Health Organization (WHO), around one-third of the world's heart-related conditions are a consequence of elevated cholesterol. In addition to this, the research also concluded that high cholesterol levels are the major issue for burdening the developing and developed countries with heart diseases and strokes. In the year 2018, 39% of the world's adult population was dealing with the issue of elevated cholesterol levels.

To decrease the risk of developing heart-related issues, an individual should cut down the consumption of the enlisted food items.

Red Meat

Red meat has always been assumed to be bad for cholesterol. People with high cholesterol are often advised to limit or avoid its consumption in order to maintain the body's cholesterol balance. Red meats such as pork, beef, and lamb have a high content of saturated fats. Abstaining from meat entirely is not an answer, but eating it on rare occasions and sticking to 3-ounce portion size can surely help.

Baked Foods

Almost everyone on this planet enjoys cakes, cookies, and pastries. They are the favorite snacks of most people. However, experts have warned about the high amount of sugar, butter, and shortening that these snacks consist of is extremely harmful and can cause serious complications in individuals.

People who are already suffering from high cholesterol levels should steer clear of such food items. Other baked goods such as pasta, bread, etc, also do no good on consumption.
