Himalayan Garlic; One Clove, With Many Health Benefits

This single-clove variety of Allium sativum is harvested once a year in the high altitudes of the Himalayas. It has a bunch of health benefits linked to it.

Have you ever come across the Himalayan Garlic? The miraculous pharmaceutical ingredient is believed to lower cholesterol and heal viral diseases. People also know it by - Kashmiri Garlic, Jammu Garlic, and Ek Pothi Lahsun (in Hindi). This unusual garlic is picked once a year in the Himalayas at high altitudes.  

It offers a slew of health benefits; here are a few of them: 

Manage Cholesterol Levels 

If you are unable to regulate your body's excessive cholesterol levels, consume two cloves of Himalayan Garlic early in the morning, on an empty stomach. Himalayan Garlic has been shown to reduce cholesterol and triglyceride levels in the human body by around 20 mg/dl. 

Ensures Heart Health 

Apart from lowering LDL cholesterol and triglycerides in the body, Himalayan Garlic can also aid to reduce the production of plaque and clots in the body by reducing blood density. This garlic includes a chemical component known as Hydrogen Sulfide, which aids in muscular relaxation. 

Manages Diabetes 

Apart from high level of blood pressure, this garlic variety can also help you control your blood sugar levels. Allicin stimulates the pancreas to produce insulin in the body, assisting the body in controlling diabetes. 

Seasonal Cough & Cold 

Ek Pothi Lahsun is useful for treating seasonal coughs and colds. Other infections are less likely to infect if you consume Himalayan Garlic on a regular basis. The Himalayan Garlic contains a high concentration of the chemical components called Alliinase and Alliin, which aid in the production of the potent compound Allicin. The compound functions as a protective barrier, preventing bacteria-borne infections from entering the body. 

Reduces Cancer Risk 

According to the National Cancer Institute, Himalayan Garlic can lower the risk of various cancers in individuals by 50%. This is due to the presence of an organosulfur compound known as diallyl trisulfide, which destroys cancerous cells. 

Liver Health 

Himalayan Garlic aids in the treatment of liver-related ailments such as typhoid and jaundice, and it can improve your liver health in different ways. 

Digestive Disorders 

Garlic, when used as a preventative medication, helps to reduce digestive disorders such as acid reflux and indigestion. However, if you have chronic acidity, heartburn, or gastritis, you should avoid Himalayan Garlic.
