The most common type of medication used by patients to treat headaches, high fevers, or body aches is paracetamol. But recently, researchers have found further strange side effects.

Researchers from Ohio State University discovered that people who take paracetamol are more likely to take risks than people who receive a placebo.

The National Health Service claims that if paracetamol is used in the recommended dosage, it is not known to have any serious side effects. However, American researchers have found that regular users of acetaminophen or paracetamol perceive risk differently.

Side effects of Paracetamol:

According to a 2020 Ohio University study that was published in the journal Social Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience, people who regularly take paracetamol think that risky activities like skydiving or expressing an unpopular opinion in public are less frightening than those who are given a placebo.

Acetaminophen, according to Baldwin Way, the report's lead researcher, makes people less wary of unsafe or dangerous situations. Every week, about one-fourth of Americans take paracetamol. This effect of increased risk-taking and less fear will impact society.

Some serious side effects of paracetamol include:

  • Allergic reactions, which may be severe and include: Skin rashes, itching, or hives, swelling of the throat, tongue, or face, and Shortness of breath or wheezing

  • Skin rash or peeling, or mouth ulcers

  • Breathing problems. This is more likely if you have experienced them before when taking other painkillers such as ibuprofen and aspirin

  • Unexplained bruising or bleeding or becoming unusually tired. Getting more infections than usual.

  • Liver problems. Nausea, sudden weight loss, loss of appetite, and yellowing of the eyes and skin can occur
