Godavari Biorefineries Plans to Expand its Sakarwadi Biochemical Unit
GBL's Sakarwadi plant uses ethanol and rectified spirits to produce specialty chemicals such as bio-ethyl acetate, MPO, 1,3 butylene glycol, crotonaldehyde and paraldehyde, as well as commodity chemical ethyl acetate.
Godavari Biorefineries Ltd (GBL), a major producer of ethanol and ethanol-based chemicals, held a ground-breaking ceremony in Sakarwadi, Maharashtra, to expand its manufacturing facility. GBL also opened biochemical research and new product development laboratory.
The Sakarwadi facility produces bio-based chemicals for a variety of applications, while the research facility is equipped to conduct advanced biochemical research.
"We are overjoyed that the specialty chemicals facility and our expanded research laboratory will allow us to expand the bio-chemical industry," said Samir Somaiya, Chairman and Managing Director of GBL.
"India has increased its chemical product exports in recent years, and at Godavari Biorefineries, our vision is to make green chemicals that have a low environmental impact, a focus on biodiversity, and the prudent use of scarce resources." Globally, there is a growing demand for environmentally friendly and sustainable chemicals. "Our investments in research and development have been critical to our growth, and they are aimed at creating value while also optimizing resources and processes," he said.
