NTPC and Masen (Moroccan Agency for Sustainable Energy) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for cooperation in the renewable energy sector during the 17th CII EXIM conclave on India-Africa growth partnership, which was held in New Delhi from July 19th to 20th, 2022.

Several African countries were represented at the conclave, and discussions were held to promote investment and collaboration between Indian and African companies in various sectors in Africa. The CII-EXIM Bank Conclave on India-Africa Project Partnership was established in 2005 with the support of the Government of India's Ministries of External Affairs and Commerce and Industry.

The Conclave has played a critical role in encouraging Indian companies to establish and expand their footprints in Africa over the last sixteen editions. Mohamed Maliki, Ambassador of the King of Morocco to the Republic of India, and Puneet Kundal, Joint Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, signed the MOU.

Rachid Bayed, Executive Director of Operations and Acting Director of Development at MasenASEN in Morocco, and Narinder Mohan Gupta, Chief General Manager and Head of International Business at NTPC Limited in India, signed the MOU.

The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding as part of the session titled "Collaboration for Energy Security and Harnessing Alternative Sources." Apart from NTPC and Masen representatives Rachid Bayed and Narinder Mohan Gupta, the session featured H.E. Abdoulle Jobe, Minister of Petroleum and Energy, Republic of The Gambia, H.E. Ajay Mathur, Director General, International Solar Alliance, and Puneet Kundal, Joint Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India.

The session was also attended by Dr. Pradeep Singh Rajpurohit, Joint Secretary (West Asia & North Africa), Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. The MOU between NTPC Ltd. and Masen, both pioneers in renewable energy generation, promises to pave the way for the joint development of utility-scale renewable energy projects in Africa.

This collaboration is intended to support capacity-building services and to share experience, know-how, and expertise in areas of mutual interest, particularly in the field of research and development. NTPC and Masen may explore joint development opportunities for renewable energy power projects in other African countries as part of their collaboration.
