The First Inter-Ministerial Committee Meeting was held in New Delhi on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, with Secretary of Food Processing Industries (FPI), Anita Praveen, at the helm. The primary purpose of the meeting was to update the officials on the progress made thus far for World Food India 2023 and to discuss the involvement of relevant Ministries, Departments, and Organizations in the upcoming event.

This meeting marked another step in a series of interactions aimed at informing the Ministry's action plan and exploring potential areas of collaboration. The roundtable gathering saw the participation of senior officials from key central government ministries and departments.

Secretary, FPI, took the opportunity to address the attendees, requesting them to present specific plans for their participation and partnership in the Mega Food Event scheduled to take place from November 3rd to 5th, 2023, in New Delhi.

Furthermore, all central ministries and departments were urged to contribute suggestions regarding the planned sessions of World Food India and actively engage in the event. They were also encouraged to support the Ministry in raising awareness through their respective social media platforms and ensuring the participation of senior policymakers, industry members, self-help groups (SHGs), and other relevant stakeholders. The aim was to collectively work towards making the event a resounding success.

In response, the participating officials expressed their support to the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI). They pledged to contribute through technical and sectoral sessions, investment-oriented engagements with Ambassadors and High Commissioners, buyer-seller meets/RBSMs (Reverse Buyer-Seller Meets), interactions with startups, intellectual property rights (IPRs), and the One Nation One Digital Platform (ONDC). Additionally, they emphasized the importance of involving exporters associated with the respective boards.

Secretary FPI concluded her remarks by calling upon all stakeholders to unite and leverage their strengths to ensure the success of the event. She emphasized the need for additional support and encouraged collaboration among all parties involved. The Inter-Ministerial Committee agreed to reconvene in June 2023 to solidify concrete partnerships and finalize the participation of different stakeholders.

To facilitate the implementation of the discussed action plan, the Investment Facilitation Cell (Invest India) and event partner (Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry - FICCI) were instructed to coordinate with the relevant ministries and departments and seek necessary support from government bodies.
