Owners of almost 33% of the farmlands being acquired have agreed to give up their plots for the second phase of construction of the Jewar airport in Uttar Pradesh. On November 25, 2021, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the foundation stone for Noida International Airport, also known as Jewar Airport.

"The state government would distribute Rs 2,890 crore in compensation to farmers whose farms are being taken. The authority is currently in the process of acquiring 1,365 hectares of land for the second phase. We are optimistic that all of the farmers would respond shortly "Dhirendra Singh, MLA from Greater Noida's Jewar assembly seat, agreed.

Even as the government agrees on a compensation payment of Rs 2,890 crore for the second phase of the Jewar airport's construction, owners of approximately 33 percent of the farmlands bought for the project have agreed to give up their plots.

1365 hectares of land will be purchased in the second phase.

In these six settlements, a Social Impact Assessment (SIA) was conducted prior to the acquisition. The Gautam Buddha University team conducted this survey. Following the submission of the SIA report, the procedure of obtaining the farmers' approval began. The job of obtaining approval from farmers is moving quickly under the direction of ADML A Balram Singh. The officials are hopeful that the work will be finished shortly.

After completion, the under-construction international airport in Jewar will be Asia's largest and the world's fourth-largest. In its election rallies, the governing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has frequently praised the airport project. The initiative is critical to the party since it is set to launch before the 2024 general elections.

"The project's land purchase has gone off without a hitch. The maiden flight will most likely take place before the end of 2022. The project has produced thousands of employments and attracted a big number of investors to the area "Singh stated.
