Third G20 Infrastructure Working Group Meeting to be Held in Rishikesh on June 26-28
The G20 Infrastructure Working Group meeting in Rishikesh holds great promise for advancing infrastructure investment and development globally.
The third meeting of the G20 Infrastructure Working Group (IWG) is set to commence from June 26 to 28, 2023 under the G20 Indian Presidency. This important gathering will bring together a total of 63 delegates from G20 member countries, invitee countries, and international organizations.
The meeting aims to build upon the discussions held during the second IWG meeting in March 2023 in Visakhapatnam and advance the dialogue on the 2023 Infrastructure Agenda under the Indian G20 Presidency. The G20 Infrastructure Working Group is dedicated to addressing various aspects of infrastructure investment, including the development of infrastructure as an asset class, the promotion of quality infrastructure investment, and the identification of innovative instruments for mobilizing financial resources. The outcomes of the Infrastructure Working Group discussions contribute to the priorities of the G20 Finance Track and support infrastructure development worldwide.
The forthcoming IWG meeting will delve into the progress made in various workstreams of the 2023 Infrastructure Agenda. The primary focus of this meeting will be the flagship priority of "Financing Cities of Tomorrow: Inclusive, Resilient and Sustainable," along with other key areas of interest. Over the course of three days, delegates will engage in official meetings and cultural programs carefully curated by the organizers. Aside from formal discussions, participants will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the rich culture and breathtaking landscapes of Rishikesh. To conclude the event, an excursion has been organized for delegates on the afternoon of 28th June, providing a memorable experience.
Parallel to the IWG meetings, two side events are also scheduled. On June 26, the "High-Level Seminar on Roadmap to Sustainable Cities" will take place in collaboration with the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank. This seminar aims to facilitate discussions on critical challenges such as climate change, infrastructure resiliency, rapid urbanization, inclusiveness, and the role of technology, Infratech, and digitization.
Furthermore, participants will gain insights from the launch of NUSANTARA, one of the world's most ambitious new city developments, in Indonesia. Numerous international and national experts will contribute to these discussions.
On June 27, a roundtable session entitled "Making India an MRO Hub" will be held. This session will explore the vast opportunities that India has to offer in the Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) space, attracting attention from the participants.
Delegates will also have the privilege of experiencing the cultural heritage of Uttarakhand and indulging in local cuisines through the "Ratri Bhoj Par Samvad" (Conversation over Dinner) event. Additionally, the Presidency has organized a "Yoga Retreat" on 26th June 2023, allowing participants to immerse themselves in the practice of yoga.
