The Department of Telecommunication (DoT) has recently launched a brand new web portal, which allows users to check their mobile numbers issued in their name. This new initiative has been dubbed the “Telecom Analytics for a Fraud Management & Consumer Protection” (TAFCOP), which is the portal, which the citizens can use to check the SIM cards, which have been issued against their registered Aadhar card.

According to rules & regulations of the Department of Telecommunications, a single citizen can have up to 9 mobile numbers, which are connected to their single Aadhar card.

This portal works as a safeguard, as citizens can report the mobile numbers, which they no longer use or that they do not recognize, to prevent any fraudulent activity on their Aadhar card-related facilities.

The “About” section of the TAFCOP portal says that the “Department of Telecommunications has taken measures to ensure a proper allocation of the telecom resources by Telecom Service Providers to the subscribers & protect their interests in ensuring the reduction of frauds.

As per the existing guidelines, an individual mobile subscriber can register up to 9 mobile connections in their name”.

Below is the “Step by Step Process of how you can Check & Verify Mobile Number Registered against Aadhar Card”

  • Visit the official website of TAFCOP via: https://tafcop.dgtelecom.gov.in/

  • Enter your Mobile Number & Click on Request OTP

  • The DoT will then send you OTP to the mobile number via SMS.

  • Now, you can sign in to the portal.

  • You will now be redirected to a page, where you can view all the mobile numbers, which have been linked to your specific Aadhar card. In the event you see numbers, which you do not recognize or have since been out of use by you, you can now report them, so they can be removed from your Aadhar card.
