7th Pay Commission: Basic Salary of Govt Employees to Increase Confirmed! Check New Update on Fitment Factor

Employees currently receive a salary based on a fitment factor of 2.57 percent; if this factor is increased to 3.68 percent, the minimum wage for employees will increase by Rs 8,000.

Following the government's recent increase in the DA from 31% to 34%, expectations for an increase in the minimum basic pay have risen even higher. Employees' unions in the central government have long demanded an increase in the minimum pay from Rs 18,000 to Rs 26,000, as well as an increase in the fitment factor from 2.57 to 3.68 times.

Employees of the central government have been putting pressure on the government for a long time. According to numerous media reports, the government may shortly approve an increase in the fitting factor.

Govt Might Increase the Fitment Factor

If the government announces an increase in central employees' fitment factor, their pay will rise significantly. Employees are currently paid based on a 2.57 percent fitment factor, which would be hiked to 3.68 percent, increasing to Rs 8,000 in the minimum pay. This means that the central government's minimum pay will rise from Rs 18,000 to Rs 26,000 per month. The current minimum basic pay is Rs 18,000, however, it must be hiked to Rs 26000 shortly.

How Much Will Your Salary Increase?

Employees' basic pay will be Rs 26,000 if the fitment ratio is adjusted to 3.68 percent. According to the 2.57 fitment factor, if your minimum salary is Rs 18,000, you will receive Rs 46,260 (Rs 18,000 X 2.57 = 46,260) without allowances. Your salary will be Rs 95,680 (26000 X 3.68 = 95,680) if the fitment factor is 3.68.

What was the Basic Salary before?

The Union Cabinet adopted the Seventh Pay Commission's recommendations with 34 changes in June 2017. The base wage for entry-level employees was raised from Rs 7,000 to Rs 18,000 per month, while the highest level, secretary, was raised from Rs 90,000 to Rs 2.5 lakh. The initial wage for Class 1 officers was Rs 56,100.
