After a hike in the dearness allowance for lakhs of Central government employees, there is good news for them. The central government employees, who have failed to claim the Children Education Allowance (CEA) due to the Covid – 19 Pandemic can now claim this money & they will not require any kind of official document for the same.

The Central government employees will also get the allowance for education of their children, which is Rs 2,250 per month as per the recommendations of 7th pay Commission.

The schools were closed since last year because of the corona virus outbreak due to which the Central government employees failed to claim the Children Education Allowance (CEA).

Last month, an Office Memorandum (OM) was issued by Department of Personnel & Training in which it was said that the employees of Central Government have faced the difficulties in claiming he Children Education Allowance (CEA) due to the Covid-19 pandemic because though the parents submitted the fees online, but the schools did not send the results of students through an email or SMS.

The DoPT has said that the Children Education Allowance (CEA) claims can also be made through the self declaration or print out of SMS/ Report card/ fee payment/ e-mail of the result. However, this facility will be available only for academic year ending in March 2020 & March 2021.

The employees of central government will get the Children Education Allowance (CEA) for the education of 2 children & this allowance is Rs 2250 per child per month. If an employee has not claimed the Children Education Allowance (CEA) from the academic calendar of March 2020 & March 2021 then, the employees can claim this amount & the employee will receive the money as his salary component.
