Aadhar Update! Rules for Making Children’s Aadhar Card Changes

Some changes have been made in the rules for making Aadhar cards for children. In this, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), the issuing body of Aadhar, has made changes in the process of issuing Aadhar cards for children.  

Aadhar Card for Children Below Five Years

Aadhar card is an important document for every citizen in India. Even for children below five years, an Aadhar card is made, which is called a Baal Aadhar card.

But there is a different rule for applying for it. Parents can apply for their child's Aadhar card by presenting the birth certificate or slip issued by the hospital where the child was born.

You Can Easily Add New Member’s Name

• If the name of any member of the house is missing in the Aadhar, then you can get it done via online mode.

• Earlier, Baal Aadhar was issued for children up to five years of age, but according to the new rules, it is now being made for children below five years of age.

• There will be no need to give fingerprints of the retina of the eyes & five fingers of the hand for the children.

• UIDAI has removed the requirement of biometrics for children below the age of five years. The mandatory requirement of biometrics has been removed.

• Notably, biometrics will now be required only when the child turns five years old. After this, like the normal Aadhar card, will be a child Aadhar card.

Documents Required for Bal Aadhaar 

• PAN Card.

• Voter ID.

• Driving License.

• NREGA Job Card.

• Ration Card is required to make Child Aadhar Card.

To Generate Child Aadhar Card

• Visit the official website of UIDAI.

• Select the option of Aadhar Card Registration & fill up the required details of a child.

• Cross Check all the details, then submit the application.

• Click on the Appointment option to schedule registration for the Aadhar card.

• Select your nearest enrollment center, schedule your appointment & get the child's Aadhar card issued on the date issued by it.

Carry These Document to Make Child Aadhar Card

• To make a child Aadhar card, carry ID proof; address proof, association certificate & date of birth on the date of an appointment.

• An officer will check all your documents. Biometric data will be collected if your child is above five years of age.

• Biometric data is not required if the age is less than five years. 

• Only demographic data and facial recognition would be required.

• After completion of the process, parents will receive an acknowledgment number to track the process of their application.

• SMS will also be received after 60 days of submission and the Baal Aadhar Card will reach you within 90 days.
