ACFI's 6th Annual General Meeting 2023 Discusses How to Make 'India Manufacturing and Export Hub of Agrochemicals'

The Agro Chem Federation of India (ACFI) organised the 6th Annual General Meeting 2023 to discuss on the subject of "Making India the Manufacturing and Export Hub of Agrochemicals" on Wednesday, September 06, 2023.

The Agro Chem Federation of India (ACFI) organised the 6th Annual General Meeting 2023 to discuss on the subject of "Making India the Manufacturing and Export Hub of Agrochemicals" on Wednesday, September 06, 2023. 

Prof. Ramesh Chand, a Member of Niti Ayog, started the session by explaining the importance of the agro-chemical industry. 

Harish Damodaran, a senior journalist who covers agriculture and helping the government in policy-making, said, "I am not a economist but if we look at factors of production and technology then we can make a difference in terms of nutritions and feeding India - if fertilizer industry, agrochemical, and seed work together"

"I do not know where the agro-chemical industry lies. I do see a tractor industry like Mahindra..," he added.

Raju Kapoor, Director of Corporate Affairs of Industry and Public Affairs with FMC India, an Indian subsidiary of FMC Corporation, and a global agriculture major based in Philadelphia USA, said, "The need for the agrochemical industry it is important to identify where we will play and how we will play."

Moreover, he said that India is at a crucial point in attracting foreign investment in the country. "Local manufacturing can be done at a very effective price in India," he substantiated his point as India becoming a hub of manufacturing. 

Prof. Ramesh Chand, a Member of Niti Ayog, Dr Vishal Choudhary, Advisor Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals, and Dr K. C. Ravi, Chief Sustainability Officer at Syngenta, Mayank Singhal, the Managing Director and Vice Chairman of PI Industries, Ravi Annavarapu, President of FMC India, and Ajeet Singh Chahal, Head of Alternate Business Models at Bayer Crop Science attended the event.
