Ten percent of the vacancies shall be reserved for Ex-Agniveers

For positions in the Central Police Reserve Force, the Union Home Ministry has declared a 10% reservation for ex-Agniveers. This announcement comes shortly after the Government declared a 10% reservation in the Border Security Force for former Agniveers (BSF)

The declaration was issued through a notification after amending the rules made under the Central Industrial Security Force Act, of 1968, (50 of 1968). “Ten per cent of the vacancies shall be reserved for ex-Agniveers,” the notification read.

Relaxation in the upper age limit on whether they are the first batch of Agniveers or the later batches has been announced by the Ministry of Home Affairs. In addition to the upper age limit relaxation, ex- agniveers will also not be subjected to physical efficiency tests.

According to the ministry, the upper age limit shall be relaxable for up to five years for candidates from the first batch of former Agniveers and for up to three years for those from other batches.

For former employees of the BSF, a 10% reservation was also announced. The former Agniveers will benefit from this program by receiving employment options up until retirement age. The BSF will also profit because it will receive a qualified workforce to fill up to 84,800 positions.

The Agnipath initiative, which was announced by the Center on June 14 of last year, was for the recruitment of young candidates between the ages of 17 and a half and 21 into the army, navy, and air force, mostly on a four-year short-term contractual basis. Candidates who are accepted into the program are referred to as Agniveers.
