In the last ten years, the proportion of crops in the gross value of agriculture and related industries' production has decreased.

In the previous ten years, the proportion of crops in the gross value of agriculture and related industries' production has decreased by 7.5 percentage points, whereas during the same period, the livestock’s share has risen by 5 percentage points, a report released by the National Statistical Office (NSO) displayed these facts.

According to the National Statistical Office's report on the State-wise and item-wise value of output from agriculture, forestry, and fishing, the crops sub-sector accounted for 62.4% of the agricultural and allied sectors in 2011–12 but would account for just 54.9% in 2020–21.

The livestock subsector’s contribution to the agricultural and related sectors has risen from 25.57 percent in 2011–21 to 30.58 percent in 2020–21.

Crops, livestock, forestry & logging, fishing & aquaculture, and other linked industries are the four sub-sectors that make up the agricultural and allied sectors.
