Kota Harinarayana, the mastermind behind India's indigenous light combat aircraft, Tejas, has expressed the need to leverage the vast potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the agriculture sector for a revolutionary impact on precision farming.

During his address at the 'Meet the Pioneers in Science and Technology' event organized by the Government Engineering College in Mananthavady, celebrating its silver jubilee, Dr Harinarayana emphasized the pivotal role of students in this technological endeavour.

He highlighted the transformative capabilities of AI, envisioning a remarkable ten-fold increase in agricultural yield while simultaneously reducing water usage, fertilizers, and pesticides.

The event served as a platform to advocate for integrating AI into agricultural practices, fostering discussions on the crucial role of technology in shaping the future of farming.

Other notable speakers at the event included Dr B.N. Suresh, former director of Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, who engaged with students on the 'Chandrayaan 3' mission. Dr K. Sudhakar, retired Professor from the Department of Aerospace Engineering at IIT Bombay, and aircraft design expert Raj Kanwar Jolly from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited shared their expertise with students.

The college principal, Dr E.A. Jasmin, welcomed the audience, and Dr K.K. Saijal, the program coordinator, extended a vote of thanks. The silver jubilee celebrations include various programs like a tech fest, exhibition, open house, entrepreneurs meet, and workshops in diverse domains.
