Amit Shah Distributes 100 Electric Potter Wheels under KVIC’s Kumhar Sashaktikaran Yojana

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has distributed 100 electric potter wheels to one hundred trained artisans of ‘Kumhar Shaktikaran Yojana’ being run by the Khadi & Village Industries Commission (KVIC) to empower underprivileged Kumhar community and connect it to the Atma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyan.  

Shah distributed electricity potter wheels in his parliamentary constituency Gandhinagar through video conference in New Delhi on July 26. He also appreciated the efforts of the Khadi and Village Industries Commission in providing permanent employment opportunities to the weaker and marginalized potters’ sections through various schemes, saying that I hope that KVIC will continue to work for the benefit of the disadvantaged sections and ' The potter empowerment scheme is an important step towards making the potter community "self-reliant".  

On the occasion, Amit Shah also interacted with five potters who have been trained by KVIC to make pottery and provided electric potter wheels and other equipment for future endeavours. Shah said that by connecting our potters and brothers with the technology of Indian craftsmanship, we can make their lives easier and also increase their production capacity.  

The Union Home Minister further said that important works are being done towards strengthening the marginal potter community by reviving the traditional art of pottery through the potter empowerment scheme and it will prove to be a major step towards empowering the community. Amit Shah said that the distribution of electric chaak on behalf of the Prime Minister is a gift to the people of Gujarat. 

“The Modi government is always concerned about the better livelihood of the Prajapati community and I am happy to see the change in the lives of our potters”, Shah said. The Union Home Minister assured the potters that arrangements would be made to provide proper marketing channels, including tie-ups with the railways, to sell their products. 

Amit Shah said that the dream of Narendra Modi is to strengthen the ancient art of the country and that every person with his talent should contribute to making India self-reliant. The “Kumhar Shaktikaran Yojana” is a very important step towards making the Kumhar community self-reliant. KVIC has trained 100 potters from 14 villages in Gandhinagar district and distributed 100 electric wheels and 10 blanzer machines. 

The average income of potters has increased from about Rs 3000 per month to around Rs 12,000 per month under the Kumhar Shaktikaran Yojana.
