Andhra Farmers Receive Input Subsidy Worth Rs.542 crore
Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday credited input subsidy of Rs.542.06 crore directly to farmers’ bank accounts. He also credited Rs.29.51 crore to 1,220 farmer groups under the YSR Farm Mechanization Scheme.
YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, released Rs.542.06 crore through input subsidies to 5.97 lakh farmers who lost crops owing to heavy rains in November 2021.
According to a statement from the chief minister's office (CMO), the CM also credited Rs.29.51 crore into the accounts of 1,220 farmer organizations under the YSR Farm Mechanization Scheme.
The state government launched the scheme to provide farmers in Andhra Pradesh with mechanized agriculture tools.
According to the CMO statement, the state government has so far disbursed 1,612.62 crore as part of the input subsidy to 19.93 lakh farmers. "The crop loss input subsidy is based on e-crop data and has benefited both tenant farmers as well as cultivators,” it read.
The subsidy is granted to farmers who have suffered crop loss due to natural calamities in the same season so that they can invest it in the next season to partially offset their losses, according to the CM.
“The farmers, who suffered due to non-germination of seeds on account of heavy rains in November, were provided with 1.21 lakh quintals of seeds immediately after the rains at 80% subsidy,” he said.
Similarly, 1.56 lakh farmers received 123.70 crore in April 2020 for losses incurred from January to March 2020, while 3.71 lakh farmers received 278.87 crore for damages incurred from April to October due to rains.
Following the Nivar cyclone crop, 8.35 lakh farmers received 645.99 crore in input subsidies in December 2020.
In November 2021, a total of Rs.22 crores was credited to the accounts of 34,556 farmers who lost crops owing to the Gulab cyclone in September 2021.
Farmers might check their eligibility for any reimbursement at the Rythu Bharosa Kendras (RBKs), which are put up to assist farmers at all times, according to the CM.
"A list of beneficiaries for a social audit is displayed at the RBKs. Farmers can check if their names are on the list. If any eligible farmers are left out, they can file a complaint, rectify the problem, and reap the benefits immediately," he stated.
