The tenures of the last assembly elections are to end on March 12 in Tripura and March 15 and 22 in Meghalaya and Nagaland.

The three assemblies have 60 seats each in Lok Sabha. A total of 62.8 lakh voters have been estimated to cast votes in this assembly election in these northeastern states with an added 2.8 lakh new voters.

The last assembly elections were won by BJP in Tripura; the National Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) in Nagaland and the National People’s Party (NPP) in Meghalaya. Elections Campaigns are all set to take place in these states.

National Democratic Progressive Party too joint hands with BJP in Nagaland and won last assembly elections with opposition from Naga People’s Front, which aims to fight independently against BJP and National Democratic Progressive Party joint coalition this election.

Last Assembly Elections BJP made a strong-hold in the North-East with bagging major votes in Tripura and forming coalition in Meghalaya and Nagaland.
