Bank Holidays in April 2022: Banks Will Remain Shut on These Days in The Coming Week; Check Detailed List

Due to many festivals and special occasions, banks in the country will remain shut.

If you are planning to visit your bank for some important work then you will have to reschedule or change your plan as in the coming week top banks in the country will be closed. Hence before visiting your bank make sure that it is open that day.

Due to many Indian festivals and special occasions in April, many banks in the country will remain closed next week. These holidays may cause little inconvenience hence people are advised to complete their important bank work this week itself.

Every year the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) releases the list of bank holidays for the public and private banks of the country. The holidays are divided into three categories –

  • Holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act.

  • Holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act and Real-Time Gross Settlement Holiday.

  • Banks’ Closing of Accounts.

In total, there are 15 holidays in the month of April and next week there are 6 holidays. Below we have mentioned the complete list of holidays in the coming days.

Bank Holidays in Second week of April 2022

9th April - Second Saturday – all banks across the country is closed on this day

10th April - Sunday

14th April - Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti/Mahavir Jayanti/Baisakhi/Vaisakhi/Tamil New Year’s Day/Cheiraoba/Biju Festival/Bohag Bihu. Banks in most places will be shut down except in Shillong and Shimla.

15th April - Good Friday/Bengali New Year’s Day (Nababarsha)/Himachal Day/Vishu/Bohag Bihu. Banks in most places will be closed except in Jaipur, Jammu, and Srinagar.

16th April - Bohag Bihu in Assam

17th April - Sunday

21st April - Gadiya Puja

23rd April - Fourth Saturday - all banks across the country is closed on this day

24th April - Sunday

29th April - Shab-e-Qadr, Zumat-ul-Vida. Banks in Jammu and Srinagar area will be closed on this day.
