Bharat Band 27th September: What happened across the country?

Farmers hit the highways and blocked railway tracks at many places as Bharat Bandh was called on  27th September 2021 against the three farm laws. The bandh began at 6 am & ended at 4 pm.

Rakesh Tikait calls Bharat Bandh Successful

Bhartiya Kisan Morcha Leader Rakesh Tikait said, “Our Bandh was successful. We had the full support of farmers … We can’t seal down everything as we have to facilitate the movement of people. We are ready for talks with the government but no discussions are happening.”

Punjab & Haryana: In Punjab & Haryana, national highways, state highways, link road & railways tracks were severally blocked, bridging road & rail traffic to a halt.

In Punjab farmers protested at over 350 places. Punjab’s Additional Director General of Police(AGDP) has issued instructions to the police forces of the state to ensure law and order at protest places. A close watch is being kept at all the dharna sites. In Haryana too, highways are blocked 25 places alone in the Jind district.

Maharashtra: Commercial establishments and local transport were operating as usual and normal life remained unaffected across Maharashtra even as various non-BJP parties held demonstrations and bike rallies in parts of the state in support of the Bharat Bandh called by farmer unions against the Centre’s three agri laws, officials said.

Jammu: Demonstrations and rallies were held across Jammu district on Monday in support of the Bharat Bandh called by farmers to demand repeal of the Centre's three agri laws. Led by CPI(M) leader M Y Tarigami, hundreds of activists and farmers took out a rally and sat on a dharna on the main road here, leading to disruption of traffic.

Madhya Pradesh: The Bharat Bandh call given by some farmer unions against the Centre's new farm laws had no major impact in Madhya Pradesh on Monday as day-to-day and commercial activities went on as usual.

Eyewitnesses said road traffic was normal in the state capital Bhopal and commercial hub Indore.

Goa: The Bharat Bandh called by farmer unions against the Centre's three agri laws failed to evoke any response in Goa so far on Monday, officials said.
