Bhupender Yadav Assumes Role of Union Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, and Kirtivardhan Singh as MoS

On June 11, 2024, Bhupender Yadav assumed charge as the Union Minister of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change (MoEF&CC). He was welcomed at Paryavaran Bhawan by Secretary Leena Nandan and other senior officials. Kirtivardhan Singh also took charge as Minister of State.

In a media briefing, Yadav expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for the opportunity and affirmed his readiness to fulfill his responsibilities. He welcomed his colleague, Kirtivardhan Singh, and highlighted the ministry's achievements over the past decade under PM Modi's leadership, highlighting the harmonious advancement of environment and development.

Yadav reiterated the focus on initiatives like Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment), introduced by PM Modi at the Glasgow Climate Conference in 2021. He explained that Mission LiFE aims to promote climate-positive behaviors and foster an ecosystem for sustainable, environmentally-friendly practices, advocating mindful consumption.

The Minister also mentioned the "Ek Ped Maa ke Naam" plantation initiative launched by PM Modi on World Environment Day 2024, encouraging citizens to participate in mass plantation efforts to combat global warming, desertification, and biodiversity challenges.

After assuming his role, Yadav held a meeting with senior ministry officials to discuss key initiatives and policy issues.
