Cluster Frontline Demonstrations (CFLD) of Pulses and Oilseeds

KVKs conducted Cluster frontline demonstration (FLD) to demonstrate the production potential of newly released technologies on the farmer's fields at a different location in a given farming system and organized farming and extension activities for farmer and extension workers for the dissemination of various technologies. Around 50 participants including Programmed Coordinators and Scientists of KVK and Scientists from ATARI, Ludhiana participated in the meeting.

KVKs conducted Cluster frontline demonstration (FLDs) to demonstrate the production potential of newly released technologies on the farmer's fields at a different location in a given farming system and organized farming and extension activities for farmer and extension workers for the dissemination of various technologies.

Around 50 participants including Programmed Coordinators and Scientists of KVK and Scientists from ATARI, Ludhiana participated in the meeting.

ATARI, Ludhiana organized an Action Plan meeting of CFLD Pulses and Oilseeds Project for the Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) at Ludhiana. Dr. V.P. Chahal, ADG (Extension) and National Coordinator of CFLD Pulses and Oilseeds Projects was the Chief Guest of the program.

Dr. V.P. Chahal clarified the concept of “Cluster Frontline Demonstrations” to the participants and urged KVKs to follow the concept in letter and spirit. He informed the participants about the priorities of the Government at the national level and expectations from the KVKs at the grass-root level.

Dr. Chahal also sensitized participants about the importance of seed exchange among the farmers for sustainable pulses production. He informed that KVKs can use a withdrawal strategy by developing a sustainable mechanism of pulses and oilseeds at the cluster level. He appreciated the KVKs of Punjab for their untiring efforts for the benefit of farmers.

Dr. Rajbir Singh appreciated KVKs for successfully conducting the demonstrations under the projects. He urged KVKs to multiply seeds of new varieties at their farms and use that seed for conducting demonstrations. He discussed conducting demonstrations in areas where there is a scope for technology dissemination. 

Dr D.S. Bhati, ADE, PAU, Ludhiana, assured KVKs regarding the availability of seeds for conducting demonstrations. He urged KVKs to conduct FLDs in areas of specific need and to document success stories at the end. He also asked KVKs to perform soil testing before laying the FLDs and to study the effect of growing pulse on soil health

Scientists from the KVKs presented achievements of 2017-18 under the CFLD Pulses and Oilseeds project and action plan for the year 2018-19 and all presentations detailed discussion and critical review of the technologies demonstrated, varieties used, funds utilized etc were held.
