CM Yogi Allows Farmers To Claim Compensation Against The Land Acquired For Moto GP Bharat

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited Greater Noida for the Moto GP Bharat event and met with a group of 21 farmers. These farmers expressed their gratitude for a decision that they feel greatly improved their lives and livelihoods.

The farmers were thrilled and wanted to personally thank Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. He had allowed them to seek compensation and rehabilitation benefits for government-owned land they had been using for 45 years. This land was initially acquired for the Noida International Greenfield Airport at Jewar, and previously, officials had denied compensation, claiming government ownership.

Protests and disruptions by farmers in Jewar caused delays in the construction of the airport's boundary wall, initially planned for completion by the end of 2024. Due to the agitation, a 2-kilometer section of the wall remained unfinished, leading to safety and security concerns.

However, on August 1, 2023, the Uttar Pradesh cabinet approved a policy allowing compensation for farmers when their "Shor" land (government land for natural water bodies and forests) was acquired for public projects. This decision, pushed for by Jewar MLA Dhirendra Singh, brought relief to the farmers. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath recognized the positive impact this had on hundreds of farmers owning 14 hectares of land, which had been a hindrance to the airport project.

During a meeting at Gautam Buddha University's guesthouse, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reaffirmed the government's commitment to farmers and those in need. Farmers from various areas expressed their gratitude to the CM. One farmer, Meghraj Jatav, who had lost his land to an airport project, thanked Chief Minister Yogi for a decision that brought happiness to their lives.
