The air quality in Delhi is improving, but it is still very poor.

To combat rising pollution in the Delhi-NCR region, private construction companies have been ordered to halt work or face fines. The violations will result in a Rs 15 lakh fine. Today's air quality in the capital improved slightly due to favourable wind speed and a decrease in the contribution of stubble burning.

However, due to shallow fog, it is expected to revert to the severe category on Sunday morning and then improve, according to Mahesh Palawat, vice president of meteorology and climate change at Skymet Weather.

Earlier, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his Punjab counterpart, Bhagwant Mann, took responsibility for paddy straw burning in the agrarian state on Friday and promised to put an end to the practise by next winter.

Ghaziabad halted construction work in the district on Sunday, ordered schools to remain closed, and advised residents not to leave their homes unless absolutely necessary.

Air Quality Index Updates:

With an air quality index (AQI) of 357, Noida topped the state chart, followed by Muzaffarnagar (332), Ghaziabad (322), and Greater Noida (312).

The Air Quality Index (AQI) is currently 349 in Noida (UP) in the 'Very Poor' category, and 304 in Gurugram (Haryana). The overall AQI in Delhi is currently 339, placing it in the 'Very Poor' category.

According to experts, emergency visits for heart failure are increasing as Delhi's pollution levels rise. According to AIIMS data, hospital admissions for heart attacks increase during peak pollution.
