Delhi Rain: Heavy Rainfall Triggers Waterlogged Roads, Traffic Jams; IMD Predicts Moderation in AQI

Delhi experienced heavy rainfall, leading to waterlogged roads in several parts, particularly near the Badarpur metro station. The netizens took on Twitter and shared several videos that show the intensity of rainfall in Vasant Vihar, RK Puram and several other areas early Saturday morning.

As a result of the continuous downpours and waterlogging, there is a high chance of traffic jams and delays in the metro rail services across various locations in Delhi. It is recommended to stay updated on traffic conditions before venturing out.

The Delhi traffic police posted a tweet about severe waterlogging on a certain stretch on Friday night, but there hasn't been any official update on the overall road conditions yet.

Here Is What IMD Predicts After Downpour in Delhi

The Indian Meteorological Department has forecasted that Delhi will experience light rainfall on Saturday. The city's maximum temperature is expected to reach 34 degrees Celsius.

According to the Regional Weather Forecast Centre (RWFC), a recent tweet predicts thunderstorms with light to moderate-intensity rainfall in Delhi-NCR and nearby areas within the next two hours.

As of 7 am, the overall Air Quality Index (AQI) is 80, which falls under the 'satisfactory' category. AQI values from zero to 50 are considered 'good,' 51 to 100 as 'satisfactory,' 101 to 200 as 'moderate,' 201 to 300 as 'poor,' 301 to 400 as 'very poor,' and 401 to 500 as 'severe.'

On Friday, several parts of Delhi experienced light to moderate rainfall, providing relief from the previously sultry weather conditions in the national capital. The minimum temperature recorded was 26.5 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature reached 35 degrees Celsius, as reported by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
