Delhi Weekend Curfew Ends! Cafes, Restaurants & Cinemas to Open at 50% Capacity

Delhi's weekend curfew is lifted!

The weekend curfew has been lifted in Delhi; odd-even limitations in the markets have also been abolished, and restaurants and cinemas can now operate at 50% capacity, the government announced today, as Covid19 instances in the capital continued to drop.

For the time being, schools and universities will be closed. At a meeting of the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), which included the Delhi government and Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal, the decision to lift restrictions imposed during the Omicron surge was made.

Cinemas, restaurants, and bars can all run at half-capacity. Wedding guest numbers have been increased from 20 to 200. Even though there will be no weekend curfew, the night curfew of 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. will remain in effect.

Delhi Weekend Curfew Lifted: Check what’s allowed and what's not: 

  • There will be no weekend curfew from this week i.e. 29 January

  • The night curfew imposed on weekdays from 10 pm to 5 am will continue.

  • The government offices have also been allowed to reopen with 50% staff.

  • Schools to remain shut as of now. The decision to reopen schools in the national capital will be taken up in the next DDMA meeting.

  • The bars and restaurants have been directed to operate with 50% seating capacity. 

  • Cinemas to run at 50% capacity

  • Up to 200 guests allowed to attend marriage functions in open areas and up to 50% capacity at indoor

Delhi has seen a dip in the number of cases and the positivity rate. Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain has said the Covid situation in the city is under control and the positivity rate is likely to dip below 10 per cent. The city is expected to report less than 5,000 cases today.
