Dhanteras 2023 Puja Timings, Rituals, Omens, Significance

Dhanteras this year is observed on Friday, November 10, which is the month of Kartik and on Trayodashi Tithi. The timings may vary for people living in different parts of the country.

Dhanteras is one of the main festivals of Hindus. Every year Danteras is observed in the month of Kartik and this year it falls on November 10, 2023.

People offer prayers to Goddess Laxmi, Lord Kuber, Lord Ganesha, and Lord Dhanvantari.

On Dhanteras people buy new things like houses, jewelry, vehicles, etc, and decorate their houses with lights, diyas, rangoli, etc.

A special prayer is performed for Lord Yama, the Lord of death. People seek blessings for the well-being of their family.

Dhanteras 2023 Significance

People generally buy gold and silver on Dhanteras calling it a good omen. Moreover, people go shopping on this day considering it a lucky thing.

People place lights and diyas outside their houses and sprinkle ganga jal for positivity while they seek the blessings of lord Yama, the lord of death, Lord Ganesha, Goddess Laxmi, Lord Kuber, and Lord Dhanvantri.

Diyas need to be placed toward the southwest direction, as it is the direction of Lord Yama. People pray for their long and healthy life.

Dhanteras Puja

Clean yourself and your house.

Decorate your house and especially the entrance

Do the puja, light diyas, and put tilak, offer garland and sweets

Place incense sticks and do the puja on the muhurat.

In the evening pray to the lord Yama.
