Dr Chithra's trip holds great significance for bilateral collaboration in the field of plant genetics and crop research between India and Germany.

Dr Chithra Devi Pandey, a distinguished Senior Scientist at the ICAR-National Bureau of Plant Genetics Resources, has been granted official permission to attend Consultation Meetings at the Leibniz Institute of Plant Genetics and Crop Plant Research (IPK) in Gatersleben, Germany. The visit is scheduled to take place from June 4, 2023 to June 17, 2023.

Dr Chithra's trip to Germany holds great significance for bilateral collaboration in the field of plant genetics and crop research between India and Germany. This visit is in line with the Joint Declaration signed by both countries, affirming their commitment to cooperation in various scientific domains.

During her stay in Germany, Dr. Chithra Devi Pandey will participate in vital Consultation Meetings at the esteemed IPK. The purpose of these meetings is to foster knowledge exchange, discuss research advancements, and strengthen collaborative efforts in the field of plant genetics and crop plant research.

It is noteworthy that as per the terms of the Joint Declaration, the expenses will be mutually shared such as accommodation, food, and logistics, will be generously covered by the German counterpart on behalf of the bilateral project.

Therefore, the Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare (DA&FW), Government of India, or Dr. Chithra Devi Pandey herself (if funding is not provided by DA&FW) will bear the costs from the Indian side, ensuring that there is no financial liability on the part of DARE/ICAR/Institute.

Upon completing the necessary pre-departure formalities, Dr. Chithra Devi Pandey will embark on this important scientific mission. Following her return, she will be required to upload a comprehensive deputation report, including actionable items for ICAR and the concerned institute, on the Foreign Visit Management System (FVMS) portal. Additionally, the report will be submitted to the Senior Management Division (SMD) of ICAR, New Delhi, and the Assistant Director General (ADG) of International Relations (IR), ICAR, New Delhi, within one month of the program's conclusion.
