DU Admission 2021 Starts on 2 August
The process of registration for 70,000 seats of undergraduate courses in Delhi will be initiated on 2nd August. As stated by Anju Shrivastava, principal, Hindu College (DU), the colleges will focus on the scores received by the students in respective state boards, including both CBSE and ISC boards. The principal quoted “With the high number of students scoring more than 95 percent, we have no choice but to keep the cut-offs on the higher side”, as there is a limited number of seats in every provided course.
Rama Sharma, principal, Hansraj College told that if students are meeting the eligibility criterion and the cut-off, then it becomes mandatory for the college to provide admission to the student, due to which the relevance of full data is quite high. The 12th result data will serve in managing the cut-off, as it will be decided whether the cut-off will be increased by 0.5 percent or one percent.
Moreover, for some popular courses like B. A (Hons.), Political science (Hons.), English (Hons.), and B.com (Hons.) the cut-offs are expected to soar, but the exact pictures will be revealed once the applications come out stated by Manoj Sinha, Principal, Aryabhatta College. It has been predicted that the first cut-off list for DU is likely to be released between 8th -10th September, as stated by Rajeev Gupta, Chairperson, Admission.
In 2020, LSR had frozen the cut-off for its three courses at 100 percent, due to which in this year the trends will be analysed to attain the exact figure, though the cut-off figures will be going to be at the higher side as reported by Admission committees of DU colleges.
The admission in DU undergraduate courses is undertaken based on the best of three or four subjects, which leads to major students having 100 percent in them by making them meet the criterion for admission. Along with this, a large number of students also take up NEET and JEE exams and then opt for those choices, and many students may opt for reappearing or the corrected mark sheets from respective boards. All these factors will be taken into consideration and the students will be provided with sufficient time for getting their mark sheets sorted.
This year, CBSE recorded the highest in history pass percentage of 99.37 in class 12th results wherein the girls outweighed boys with a tiny margin of 0.54 percent, whereas the pass percentage of 12th standard got raised by 10 percent which was recorded at 88.78 percent last year. In this the number of students scoring above 95 percent has is 70,004, along with the students scoring between 90-95 has declined to 1,50,152, which was 1,57,934 in 2020.
