To facilitate conducting of digital crop surveys across Odisha, the state government has launched e-Chasa mobile application and portal. It is expected to bring technology-driven agricultural services to the state and provide exact data on crops grown in remote, inaccessible and hilly areas. The data will assist in shaping future agricultural policies of the state government.

According to Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singhdeo Odisha is the first state to implement such a digital survey policy in agriculture. Singhdeo, who holds the Agriculture and Farmers' Empowerment department, said that around 48 lakh farmers will benefit from the new app and portal.

The e-Chasa app and portal, which represents a significant advancement in agriculture, offer farmers a comprehensive, single-window platform where crop-related data and information can be accessed anytime, regardless of weather conditions.

After successfully surveying 30 lakh plots initially in Bhadrak, Deogarh, Nuapada, and Nayagarh districts in 2023, the project has now been expanded to cover approximately 3 crore agricultural plots across 48 lakh hectares of farmland in the entire state.
